Legionella RIsk Assessments
As stated on the HSE website - an employer, or a person in control of the premises is responsible for health and safety of those people employed on site, visiting the site or even passing by. There is a need to take the right precautions to reduce the risk of exposure to Legionella bacteria in water systems. That starts with the identification of and assessment of water systems that could potentially be a source of exposure, to facilitate the appropriate scheme of control.
As a duty holder under Health and Safety legislation, you are responsible for arranging the legionella risk assessment and that assessment must be undertaken by a competent person or company on your behalf. Competency is not just about training, it refers to an individual having adequate knowledge and experience of particular systems and their operation, to ensure they can correctly assess the risk of legionella associated with the system(s) and to deliver a report that will guide the duty holder in the correct implementation of controls.
At Hydrology Group Limited, we are assessed by the Legionella Control Association for the delivery of compliant legionella risk assessments. We can provide this for evaporative cooling systems (Cooling Towers, Evaporative Condensers and Wet/Dry Cooling Systems), Hot and Cold water systems and other risk systems in all environments. We are particularly experienced in heavy industry, automotive, food and beverage and chemical manufacturing, however, we can cover all types of building including commercial premises.
Risk assessments are produced using an online, live, portal system that allows detailed asset registers be generated , comprehensive installation and management information in addition to action plans with live and closed action lists. The system also allows generation of detailed written schemes of control for the systems. We can also provide this for individual or multi-site customers ensuring the format and content of all of your reports is the same.
Risk assessments should be an important and well read part of your health and safety management system. In the past, these documents were often written and issued to customers only to be left to collect dust. Our system allows the assessment to be an organic and useful resource that can be easily reviewed and updated.
